# Mako v04 (final) against the user's clean SIDE view: Critique, round 3 (2026-10-21) **Basis** - SIDE is the authority; the other views are judged for plausibility only. - The rear glass bay (x 645-800) is not judged: the user removed it (*"no need a glass window remove that just plain metal"*). - Coordinates are sheet pixels. - Evidence: - Close side-by-side crops: `critique/p3_brow.png`, `p3_cabin.png`, `p3_jaw.png`, `p3_mid.png`, `p3_stern.png`. - `critique/r2_targets_side.png`, re-run on the new render. - `critique/p3_other_views.png`: the model's TOP, FRONT and REAR. - Silhouette from `critique/outline.py`, colour runs from `critique/runs.py`. - Colours are medians in `lk_side`, now with the side light. ## Round-2 items 1. **Brow, collar and fore clip as one hood: partly.** - Fixed: the collar is a smooth band now (no wings or flaps in any view), and the clip crests grow out of the brow. - Not fixed: **the brow does not read as orange from the side.** At x 240 the sheet is orange from 691 to 696, with glass from 702. The model is grey at 686-690, then dark from 691 to 710, with glass only from 712. - At x 265 the sheet is orange from 680 to 703; the model has **black from 697 to 713** under the crest. - Median colour under the brow (x 205-260, y 703-712): model (55,72,80), sheet's glass (135,189,223). - In `v04_studio_clips.png` this is the brow plate's dark grey underside skirt. - A small dark notch remains at about (292,677), where the crest, brow and collar meet. 2. **Grey values: partly.** - Fixed: the cheek now matches the fin. Cheek (110,121,132) and fin (118,129,140); both about 25 levels under the sheet's (138,153,164) and (148,164,177), which is the global value shift in N1. - Fixed: the slot is black at the sheet's width (x 423-449 at y 720-740). - Not fixed: the recess's front half is (86,92,101) against the sheet's lit (113,124,134), and it reads flat. - Not fixed: the cheek's light grey still runs back to x ≈ 497-506 at y 800-840; the sheet's ends at x 476-481, where the dark rear body's rounded front begins. 3. **Glass and cabin: partly.** - Fixed: the wire hoop is gone, and the two-tone line runs from the nose tip to the collar as drawn. - Not fixed: the tint is still greyer and darker than the sheet's: | part | model | sheet | |---|---|---| | upper glass | (154,185,197) | (172,228,249) | | lower glass | (106,171,201) | (150,222,246) | | nose | (85,134,171) | (128,208,238) | - The upper zone reads milky or frosted in the hero view. - **Seat: not fixed.** The sheet's dark navy seat block at x 205-245, y 738-812 has median (53,107,144); the model shows plain glass there, (94,157,184). The model's seat reads only as a low console with sticks at x 170-250, y 790-830 and a thin reclined back at x 245-275. 4. **Rear glass bay:** removed by the user; not judged. The flank x 560-880 should now be plain dark metal like the rest. 5. **Stern: partly.** - Plate: right place, x 912-918, but y 750-795 against the sheet's 740-785 (10 px low). - Lens: a flat round disc at (845-860, 800-815). The sheet's is an angled lens at (863-880, 797-820). - Upper arm: correct, y ≈ 800 to x 945. - **Not fixed:** a rod with a knob still hangs below the stern at x 905 to **y 873** (sheet bottom 850; silhouette at x 900-905 is 870-873 against 850). - New extra: a second arm at y ≈ 830 reaching x 945. The sheet's lower unit ends at x ≈ 930, and at x 940 the sheet's silhouette is 792-806 against the model's 797-832. 6. **Jaw: partly.** - Fixed: the grooves are narrower and the third groove is gone. The C's upper arm tapers a little; the sheet's ends in a point at (368,840). - **Not fixed: the prong slit still starts at y ≈ 920 and is about 14 px wide.** - Row 940: model 241-256 | 271-288; sheet solid orange 243-289. - Row 960: gap 279-290 in the model, 285-290 in the sheet. - Colour: (158,73,52) against (198,78,32). Closer, but still brick-brown. 7. **Lower front body corner and skids: fixed.** The silhouette at x 440 is 908 (sheet 909); at x 400 it is 949 (sheet 953). No skids. 8. **Ventral fin: fixed.** Silhouette at x 845-868 within 2-5 px (e.g. x 850: 899 against 903). 9. **Small: partly.** The rear body's light diagonal strip is there, and the tail fin's top matches within 3 px. The fin-root facets are not done (optional). The SIDE silhouette is unchanged, still within 1-5 px over the length. The only exceptions are the clips (required) and the stern rod and lower arm (item 5). ## New differences (most visible first) - **N1. The paints are too dull. This is now the paint, not the light.** - Shell (188,130,72) against (243,138,39); tail fin (177,120,61). Saturation about 0.62 against 0.84. - The jaw, glass, cheek and fin are all about 20-25 % darker. - The flank is (43,52,62) against (73,87,100). - Even with the side light the orange reads caramel or tan, not the sheet's vivid orange. - **Change:** move the shell and fin base colour toward sRGB (243,138,39) and the jaw toward (200,80,30). Check that clear-coat or sheen isn't greying them. Lift the light greys and the flank about 25 levels. - **N2. The brow's dark skirt** (item 1). The most visible remaining fault at the canopy. - **Change:** make the brow's side face orange from the silhouette down to y ≈ 701-703 (at x 265: y 680-703), with the glass directly below it, its top at y ≈ 702-708 (the model's is at 710-718). - Remove the dark underside band from x 200 to 300. - Close the small notch at (292,677). - **N3. Stern extras** (item 5): the rod and knob below to y 873, and the second arm at y 830. Remove both, or tuck the arm inside x 930. - **N4. Cabin seat** (item 3): bring a tall dark navy seat back with a headrest up to y ≈ 740 at x 205-245, so it reads through the glass as on the sheet. ## Other views: plausibility - Plausible now: - TOP: the arrowhead brow over the canopy is acceptable, since the fore clips need it. - FRONT: a round dome under a smooth hood, the jaw and prongs. - REAR: grey lobes and the stern hub. - The hero view reads as one coherent machine. The broken collar of round 2 is gone. - Still faulty: - The dark brow underside also shows in FRONT, as a dark crescent over the dome's top at about x 1130-1280, y 160-190, and in the clips close-up (same fix as N2). - The hero view still shows the rear bay window; it goes with the user's removal. ## Verdict - **Outline: about 95 %.** Within 1-5 px everywhere except the required clips and the stern rod and arm. - **Look: about 80 %.** Every part is in the right place with the right shape now. What still separates it from the drawing is colour and three local faults. The changes that would still do most: 1. **Saturate and lift the paints** (N1): shell orange toward (243,138,39), jaw toward (200,80,30), greys and flank about 25 levels lighter. 2. **The brow orange down to the glass** (N2): no dark skirt under it, glass top at y ≈ 702-708. 3. **Glass tint toward the sheet's light cyan, plus a readable dark navy seat** (items 3 and N4): upper (172,228,249), lower (150,222,246), the seat back at x 205-245 up to y ≈ 740. 4. **Close the jaw's prong slit:** solid orange down to y 945, a 6 px slit from (282,948). 5. **Clean the stern** (N3): no rod or knob below y 850, no second arm, the plate up 10 px, the lens angled at (863-880, 797-820).
